There is nothing inherently special about these symbols, but they do tell a story. It begins with the creation of the world. God designed us to walk with Him in purity and holiness (Genesis 3:8). But this did not last long. We sinned and disobeyed (Genesis 3), resulting in separation from God and deserving His just punishment. A just God requires justice; we cannot simply be let off the hook.

None of this surprised God. From the beginning, He had a plan to rescue and redeem His people (Ephesians 1:4–5). He desires a relationship with us (Matthew 23:37; James 4:8). Throughout history, that plan unfolded in different ways—from the flood (Genesis 6:5, 17) to the Ten Commandments and the Law. God used various means to reveal His redemptive plan, and despite our stubbornness, He remained merciful, loving, and faithful (Psalm 103:8). He “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).

Ultimately, the only way to accomplish this was for Him to send His only Son—fully God and fully man—to take on human flesh, live a perfect life, fulfill the Law, and die in our place to save us from our sins and reconcile us to Himself (Romans 8:3–4; Hebrews 10:1–31).
